5 Common Mistakes New Puppy Owners Make
Mistake #1: Under estimate how many potty breaks your puppy needs.
Puppies need opportunities to relieve themselves outside frequently! A general rule of thumb is to expect an infant puppy to only hold their potty for 2-3 hours at a time and as they age up each month, you can increase that time by 1 hour up through 8 hours total, maximum.
Mistake #2: Misunderstand socialization.
Socialization is a term used widely but is not well understood by pet parents. Socialization should not be the sum of random experiences but rather instead it is about quality, carefully crafted experiences that you are in control of for your puppy! Avoiding the dog park and day care during the critical period of socialization helps safeguard your puppy's emotional wellbeing!

Mistake #3: Wait to schedule a first veterinary visit.
Veterinarians are booked up more than ever! It's critical to get your puppy examined by a Veterinarian you trust to ensure your puppy is healthy and happy. It is very common for parasites to live in your pup's intestines and ensuring you know this information, you can treat it! If you wait too long, your puppy may be symptomatic and/or it may delay the socialization process!
Mistake #4: Over exercised their puppy to combat behavior concerns.
Puppy bones are still forming through about 18 months of age so it's important to regulate excessive movements and avoid running with you in an effort to curb "high energy".
Mistake #5: Didn't hire a Certified Professional Dog Trainer
Hiring a pro isn't just about addressing problem behaviors. Rather, it's about teaching your dog what you expect and desire them to do !
